About the film

The Farmer Takes a Wife is a romantic comedy-drama set along the Erie Canal in the 1800s. The story follows Dan Harrow, a rough but ambitious canal worker who dreams of becoming a successful farmer. He falls in love with Molly Larkins, a strong-willed woman who works on the canal boats, but their relationship becomes complicated because Molly loves life on the canal while Dan wants to leave it behind for a more settled farming life.
